Mickey does yard work wow how exciting.
I don’t have a lot to say about this short other than that,
it’s boring. The only thing really going
for it is the music which is jaunty, upbeat, and quite fine to listening to,
but there are no fun visuals or funny moments to go with it.
The animation looks fine and I like things like Mickey’s ear
wiggle and him getting splattered with cake, but the story itself just isn’t
interesting. When Goofy did yard work
there were different seasons and a running gag involved. Donald got to go up against Pete. Here Mickey faces off against a mini tornado,
hence the title, that when it loses the upper hand goes to get a bigger tornado
that turns Minnie’s yard into an abstract art gallery.
Finally I really don’t like that lack of sound effects here. Like when Mickey falls and there’s no sound
for him hitting the ground, or licking his lips when he sees the cake. It just makes the short feel really empty.
So this is one short I plan to skip in the future since there’s
basically nothing appealing here except the music, and I can listen to that without
actually watching anything.
